Why does my stomach hurt all the time?

I was declining invitations to eat at my favorite places. I had to carry chewable pepto-esque pills in my purse because I would inevitably need them.

“Yes that’s still my favorite restaurant. Yes, I’m free this evening. No, I will not eat there with you.”

How do you explain that when you eat, your stomach painfully makes you pay for it? Honestly, that isn’t something I want to advertise. I do want to see you. I don’t want to feel like death afterward. It’s miserable to have to decline that piece of birthday cake because you know you’ll be trapped in the bathroom for the rest of the party. It’s awful to have to plan to have a heating pad with you - just in case. Anybody relate? Anyone? Beuller?

Well, for my poor fellow GI sufferers out there, let me tell you about probiotics. They’re bacteria - live ones. They’re the sworn enemy of the bacteria in your gut that could potentially be responsible for stealing your quality of life. When you ingest them, they go straight to work to restore some balance in that hot mess of a GI tract. Goodness. Here is where I would clutch some pearls if I had any.

I started taking a probiotic supplement my healthcare provider recommended and it changed my life. I’m back to the quality of life I remembered having and missed so much. It was a pretty quick bounce back, too.

Don’t forget about the babies! If you have a kid who says their tummy hurts a lot, this may be your new best friend.

I just wanted to encourage you to try it if you have any GI issues you’re struggling to figure out. I tried it out of frustration and desperation and am so glad I did. I linked my favorite ones in the shop. There is an acid resistant option so more of the good bacteria gets further down into the intestines - where you want it. There’s a drink mix for those who aren’t fond of swallowing pills. There’s also a chewable tablet for the kiddos.

We’re heading into the holidays with all those family recipes, yummy desserts, and seasonal snacks! Those things are only here for a few months so seize the moment and enjoy it this year. Here’s to actually having some party food, nights out with those we love, and looking forward to eating again!
